Caterina De' Medici Embroidery

categoria caterinaEmbroidery inspired by the Reinassance for both the technique, the one with counted threads, and the patterns, thin drawings of small trees and animals. The material is characteristic: loose-woven linen fabric of several heaviness; thick thread, little twisted thread of cotton, linen or silk proportioned to the heaviness of the fabric.
Traditionally the colors of this embroidery are natural white and ecru, colors which stress the relief effect of the thread on the fabric; Our Laboratory also puts forward testings with color, relating to the Reinassance origins of the technique when a light blue or red colored silk thread was used to decorate dresses or table carpet borders.
Caterina de'Medici technique is particularly recommended for curtains, pillows, doily and home accessories; manufactures are finished off with the peculiar tassels made of assembled knots.
