BIOGRAFIA
Sono nata a Castiglion Fiorentino nel 1961 e qui vivo, città di origine etrusca con forti legami culturali al suo passato, l’equilibrio con la natura qui è reale e regola i ritmi quotidiani del tempo e del suo valore. Il ricamo fa parte di questi equilibri, presenza costante nella mia vita, sempre condivisa con altre figure femminili: per prima mia madre con le sue rose preferite ricamate in tutti i colori, ogni momento importate della vita era segnato con ago e filo. Elena Morini, ricamatrice e depositaria di gusto e stile, nel mostrare il suo lavoro percepivo emozione, i suoi ricami la comunicavano, ho intuito per la prima volta la presenza di motivazioni profonde nel saper ricamare. Ho cominciato a guardare oltre per cercare di capire. Ho trovato Thessy Schoenholzer Nichols docente universitaria di attività tessili e artista, la sua figura eclettica ricca di stimoli e di conoscenza ha aperto la mia mente, è stato chiaro: i fili sono antica sapienza e libertà di espressione.
Ho incontrato Antonia Busi, artista e insegnante di merletto a fuselli, con passione e determinazione voleva dare cultura a quello che le donne sapevano fare da sempre, Lilli Babbi Cappelletti insegnante e ricercatrice di ricamo, ha dato professionalità alle mie competenze.
Queste sono state le mie maestre e dai loro insegnamenti ho costruito il mio lavoro, dopo un corso di formazione come agente di diffusione de “L’Arte del Ricamo come strumento di sviluppo nel settore filati e mercerie” patrocinato dal Ministero del Lavoro, nel 2000 apro il LABORATORIO TESSILE ALICE corsi e consulenze per il ricamo. Dalla mia formazione di insegnante di scuola primaria emerge la figura professionale di maestra di ricamo.
L’esperienza di lavoro nell’organizzazione di 5 edizioni del Forum Internazionale della Creatività tessile ITALIA INVITA, dal 2003 al 2011, ha ampliato competenze e cultura tessile.
BIOGRAPHY
I was born and raised in Castiglion Fiorentino in 1961, where I still live. The town dates back to Etruscan times and has strong cultural bonds with its past - its lifestyle is still regulated by the rhythm of nature. Embroidery is part of this rhythm, it has been a constant presence in my life and I have shared it with other women: first of all, my mother, who embroidered her favourite roses in all the colours of the rainbow. Every important moment of her life has been told by a needle and a thread; when Elena Morini, an esteemed embroiderer of great taste and style, showed me her works I felt all the emotions contained in her embroideries. For the first time I perceived there were profound motivations in the art of embroidery; I started looking further to understand and I met Thessy Schoenholzer, artist and University professor of textile activities, her eclectic character full of stimulation and know-how opened my mind and everything became clear - threads are ancient wisdom and freedom of expression; Antonia Busi, artist and bobbin lace teacher, aimed with passion and determination to give a cultural recognition to what women have always done; Lilli Babbi Cappelletti, embroidery teacher and researcher, upgraded my skills to a professional level.
They have been my teachers, and my work is based on what I have learnt from them. In the year 2000, after a training course as promoter of “L’Arte del Ricamo come strumento di sviluppo nel settore filati e mercerie” with the patronage of the Ministry of Work, I have opened LABORATORIO TESSILE ALICE, embroidery courses and counselling. My formation as primary school teacher made my professional figure of embroidery teacher come easily to light.
Organising five editions of ITALIA INVITA, the International Forum of Textile Creativity, from 2003 to 2011, has helped me extending my textile expertise and culture.
